Monsters of Hip Hop Stage

The CPAA Kidz Crew and a couple of CPAA Dance Company members attended Monsters of Hip Hop in Washington DC this past weekend. Monsters of Hip Hop is a dance convention where they learn dances from the HOTTEST Hip Hop choreographers/dancers in the industry.

First Competition of 2013 - West Coast MANIA!

Last weekend, the CPAA Dance Company traveled to Greenville, SC to attend West Coast Dance Explosion (WCDE), the first competition and convention of the 2013 dance season! We started the weekend with the first part of the competition on Friday. First up to perform were our youngest company members: Ellora, Mar'yana and Alex, the Rubies of the CPAA Dance Company. This was their first competition EVER, but they were ready! I was more nervous than they were! They, of course, did awesome. Lauren, Zoe and Grace also performed on Friday night with our little ones.

Early Saturday morning, the girls were up ready to take classes all day. Their faculty consisted of choreographers that have danced with everyone from Usher to Chris Brown to many performing companies in New York and Los Angeles. They took classes from these well-known instructors all day Saturday and Sunday. They danced till they couldn't move! They also had the chance to audition for scholarships just like a professional dancer would. Congrats to Grace and Riley for winning a scholarship to attend WCDE for free next season!

On Saturday evening, they competed all of their dances for the first time this year. Troy and I were too excited to see our creations come to life on the stage. They did a GREAT job, and I couldn't have been prouder of this group of girls. They came to Greenville on a mission - ready to KILL IT. And they did. They received many high marks and compliments from parents and teachers from other studios. So, CONGRATULATIONS!


So now, we're back on the grind getting ready for our next competitions and conventions. This upcoming weekend, the CPAA Kidz Crew is attending Monsters of Hip Hop in Washington DC. They are taking classes from the biggest hip hop choreographers in the industry. We'll keep you posted on how their convention goes!

New Year...New Blog!

Welcome to the new CPAA NATION blog! We are so excited to get this year started on the right note. We want all of our parents, students, family and friends to keep up with all that is happening with CPAA. We've already started the competition/convention season with the CPAA Dance Company and the CPAA Kidz Crew. And now, our classes are about to start learning their dances for the Spring Recital (held June 1st at Nation Ford High School auditorium).
